Star Trek Klingon D7 Warship model

A medium-detail model of the Klingon D7 warship from Star Trek. This one is primarily based on its appearance in the DS9 episode “Trials and Tribble-ations,” a model constructed by the late Greg Jein. But I mixed in a few other changes and influences, such as the two-toned color scheme from the original original, some K’tinga-inspired engine placement, and some extra detail in the torpedo launcher based on the Bird of Prey. Not 100% accurate in many places, lots of eyeballing, and lots of mediocre topology / hastily applied modifiers, but I’m happy with the look! It's very much meant to fit in with TOS, keeping the smooth curved surfaces and subtle weathering, rather than the high detail greebling of the movie K'tinga look. But with just a bit more detail, so it can hold up more plausibly with the rest of the franchise. The Trials and Tribble-ations version really hit the perfect mark, by including hints of the movie paneling drawn on in pencil instead of layers of modeled detail.
Textured in Substance Painter with 6 UDIMs- no high poly, panel lines drawn in the height map which then drive baked curvature, normals, etc. 90% of the texturing is procedural grunge mask stuff. Did a little data transfer modifier to get nice smooth normals despite booleaning in windows on curved surfaces.

Both extremely excellent artists!
